This picturesque Shelter Cove area on the Lost Coast is home to a dramatic coastline with tidepools, black sand beaches, a vibrant fishing community, golf course, airstrip, and restaurants. View abundant forest wildlife such as deer, birds, bears, foxes and sea life such as whales, sea lions, seals and more. The famous 24.6 mile Lost Coast Trail follows some of California's most isolated and breathtaking coastline. It attracts experienced hikers who trek hidden beaches and expansive vistas at dizzying heights above the surf. It's one of the finest beach backpacking trips found in the United States.
